The United States has enjoyed a rich and storied history which dates back to the late 1700’s. Men like Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Paul Revere and Thomas Jefferson are among the most recognizable figures in the history of the United States. They are key figures in the birth of the country and play a large role in the patriotic movement that we have enjoyed since the country was formed in 1776. As citizens of the United States it is important to know what patriotism is and why it plays an important role in our history.

In addition to understanding what patriotism is, we should also know about other values from our country’s past. There are many symbols which have come to represent the United States. These symbols include the Liberty Bell, which serves as a symbol of freedom for the country. Other symbols include the Bald Eagle, Uncle Sam, the White House and the Statue of Liberty. All of these symbols have become synonymous with the values of freedom and liberty which has become an important part of the country.

As mentioned above, the United States has enjoyed a long history. During the history many people have played an important role in the birth and development of the country. From Colonial Times, men such as Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and John Hancock had ideas that the colonies which were under British rule, should seek independence and become a free country. These forefathers were key individuals in creating the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Patriotism is important to understand where the country came from and how it has evolved. Because of the importance of our past, it is important to teach history and patriotism to all people. Patriotism is taught in school, as well as in the homes.
